DEEP-HEART HEALING: A Holistic Approach to Healing
Deep-Heart Healing is a way of wisdom that can facilitate inner healing and transformation. I developed this way by applying the wisdom I learned from being a Trappist (Christian) monk for 33 years to a quest for my own inner healing that began shortly before I left monastic life in 2001. MORE
Prayer: A Direction of the Heart
Prayer in its widest sense is “a direction of the heart” (Rilke) towards the highest good intuited by the heart in its depth.
Every religion recognizes this Supreme Good and seeks to awaken religious members to its existence through teaching, prayer and religious services. However, the need is always for each person
to realize this Supreme Good that religious teaching and rites
can only point to, but never grasp. MORE
Accessing Inner Guidance
In the way of Deep-Heart Healing it is very important to develop one’s ability to access intuitive guidance. It cannot be emphasized enough that our ability to do this comes from our awakening to
the Absolute Source of our life, of all life, and realizing that we
are on earth to manifest Divine Being in loving service. This is our essential being and once we have awakened to this, our deepest responsibility is to cultivate those attitudes that allow Divine Being to manifest in all our thoughts, words and actions. What this means is listening to a summons, a call from the truth of our inner being. This will always mean a commitment to our inner truth and becoming aware of conditioned attitudes, usually unconscious,
that are not in harmony with our essential being and need to
be brought to awareness and transformed. MORE
Healing of Memories
When we are most vulnerable and experience memories of pain, especially during the first 5 years of life, these have the strongest hold on us and influence us the most in later life. For during this time we do not have the cognitive faculties to understand and process the psychic overloads we experience. It is as if we
remain frozen in early traumatic experiences we could not consciously resolve back then in the present. MORE
Healing the Inner Child
We are all born into this world to experience the highest blessing of love. Each of us only yearns to be recognized for the wondrous mystery that we are and to experience being loved as such and to love in returned. When a child’s yearning for love is thwarted by experiences of neglect, abandonment or abuse of any kind it has no way to comprehend why this has happened. Generally this pain is thrust into the unconscious and negative messages are formed about itself. In effect the child thinks, “I am not getting the love
I need here therefore I must not be lovable.” This is the beginning
of believing a lie about our self. We wrongly interpret painful experiences that happened to us as being about us. MORE

DEEP-HEART HEALING: Pathways to Intuitive Healing
Chapter 1: Wherein Lies True Happiness?
(This is the first chapter of his forthcoming book by Steven Distefano)
At the age of 24, in July of 1968, I entered the Trappist Abbey
of Our Lady of Gethsemani. I would say that I was not happy for many years of my life. Being touched by Christian mystical poetry awakened a place of deep happiness within me and led me to search wherein this happiness could be found. As the Spirit always connects us with what we need, I was guided to a magazine
that had a list of religious orders. As I read over this it led to my deciding to enter monastic life. The sense I had when I entered
this abbey was that I had exhausted all the avenues of finding happiness in this culture and that somehow happiness lay within the monastic walls. MORE

Heart–Spring
There is another kind of scripture, one already completed
and preserved inside of you.
A Heart–Spring overflowing
its springbox.
A freshness In the center
of the chest.
Why not become fresh from the gentleness of this Heart–Spring?
